Welcome to Children in Ministry
At Children in Ministry, I believe in God-given potential of every child to make a positive and godly impact in the church and community. Through this website and blogs, I aim to empower children and parents to discover and develop their gifts for ministry. While Children's Ministry is important to have in every church, it is also important to ensure that their spiritual growth leads their heart to serve - and eventually "disciples who make disciples who make disciples..." will form.
"Discipleship doesn't start when someone has reached certain age. Discipleship starts when a discipler begins to build relationships with a person - of any age - and shows them what faith looks like, telling them that love of God is transformative." - The Author

About Me
Hi everyone! Welcome to my page and blog!
My heart is telling me that this is going to be a long journey...and I know this will be. And yet, it doesn't matter because what I'm planting and whom I'm planting it to is for a long run. I know for a fact that children are precious - not that the adults aren't...I'm just SAYING ;) but of course, their parents are special-er because without them, children wouldn't be born. While church can teach Jesus on Sundays, parents play a main role to train them everyday to be God's children.
Before we talk more about Children in Ministry, let me introduce myself and why I decided to start this. My name is Intan Gunawidjaja. I was born in a beautiful tropical country called "Indonesia" in 19_ _. I don't like telling people my age because they will either think that I'm old - or they will say I lie. So I'll let you be the judge. My first ministry was Sunday School back in Indonesia. I started when I was in grade 6. At that time, I was the teacher's assistant and helped with projector (Yes, we still used the projector back then! So, you may guess my age). Back in Indonesia, we had 3 Sunday school services - morning, afternoon, and evening. Each service we would have around 80-100 children, from age 5 to 11. With these many children, I was trained by many good teachers and leaders on how to serve the kids.
When I came to Canada in 2005, I continued my ministry in children. If we had about 80-100 children in Indonesia, in Canada we had around 30. So instead of putting them into groups, we usually just had a big service with children from ages 6-10. I would lead worship while playing my guitar and eventually wrote some easy songs for them to sing along. I enjoyed it! After a few years in Children's Ministry, I "moved up" to youth and young adults, then adults ministry. I joined Worship Ministry and became the Worship Coordinator. Throughout all my experiences in many ministry areas, I knew in my heart that children would always be my main ministry. However, God had a different plan.
I got married in 2014, had my first baby in 2015, then my second baby in 2017. I learned about being a mom not too long after my wedding. Let me tell you...it was difficult. I tried to balance my calling as a wife, a mom, and a volunteer at church. I failed many times and many times God pulled me up. Through motherhood, I came to understand the importance of godly parenting. I am far away from being a perfect mom - and I don't think I will ever be - to be honest, I don't want to be. So when it comes to my children, I desire to see them grow spiritually. But not only that, I also desire to see them serve God since they are young.
Throughout this website and blogs I write, I hope you get to see my perspective in the importance of children in ministry.
I am open to any comments, ideas, or critical point of views. Let's dig deeper on this journey! If we get to do this together, I believe that children will bring impact and transformation in the world we live in TODAY!
